How The Gap Map works - and what you get from it

The Gap Map is a ten-minute diagnostic that shows you how ready your organization is to develop, run, and reuse digital measures - and where the work will break first.

Why we ask for your organization's name

Before we ask you anything, name your organization and we'll show you something first: your publicly registered trials and how they measure outcomes today, alongside digital alternatives worth knowing about for the same indications. It's a preview drawn from public registries - a picture of where your organization already stands before you've answered a single question. Nothing you enter is stored unless you choose to share it at the end.

What you'll answer

Seven sections, and each has two parts: first how the work should happen at your organization - you pick the description closest to your practice - and then what happens in reality, a grounding question about what the work can actually show today. Where the two disagree, we show you the lower of the two, because that gap is the finding.

1. Context and purpose - when your teams decide what a digital measure is for, how does that happen?
2. Evidence - how you judge what a measure supports, beyond what the device claims.
3. Value - how the work gets funded, and whether the case survives a budget round.
4. Regulatory - when regulatory thinking arrives, relative to the decisions it could shape.
5. Operations - whether the data you collect can be defended afterwards.
6. Capability - who owns the work, and what survives their absence.
7. Enterprise - whether the second program inherits anything from the first.

There are no numbers to score yourself against, and none of the descriptions will fit perfectly - that's expected.

You learn as you go

Every answer returns something immediately: why your answer matters, how this part of the work typically plays out, what it looks like when it's solved, and why the difference matters. You're not filling in a survey and waiting - each section pays for itself before you reach the next one.

The report

When you finish, your full result appears on screen: where you stand overall, where you sit on a capability-versus-adoption map, a section-by-section readout of what you can do today and what stays out of reach, and what we would do first - three moves, ranked by the value each unlocks rather than by how low it scored. You can download it as a PDF. It's yours to keep.

And your answers stay yours

Your answers live in your browser, and until you say otherwise, DEEP holds only the fact that someone from your organization completed the diagnostic - never your scores or your answers. At the end, you choose what happens next, and it's three separate decisions, not one:

• Keep it private. Nothing is sent. You still get the full report on screen and as a PDF.
• Share your result with DEEP. Your report goes to us, so whoever takes your readout can prepare against the real picture instead of a blank page. Sharing alone doesn't mean anyone will contact you.
• Have DEEP contact you. We get in touch to talk it through - and you can ask for this without sharing your result. Tell us what you'd want help with, and we'll come to the conversation with your question rather than your scores.

You can also do both: share the result and ask us to talk. Any combination is fine, and none of it is required to complete the diagnostic or keep your report.
